1. Spelling
Grade 3/4 have new spelling words each week. We practice each day for small amounts of time. We will test ourselves on Fridays.
2. Home Reading
Each student should be reading a book of some sort at home for a minimum of 15 min. I have sent home a record sheet so they can keep track of their progress, there are prizes for certain hours read by each student.

3. Class Book Club
As a class, we finished the book Winn Dixie and are now watching the movie during our lunch period. Our next book as a class will be Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
4. Writer's Workshop
Has five centers, Daily Language Review, Spelling, Handwriting, Typing or Grammar Games, and Writer's workshop. Writer workshop is spent directly with me learning the functions of writing.
Writer's Workshop
Grade 3
We have finished simple sentences. We should be able to write a complete simple sentence on our own. This includes upper case and ending punctuation marks, a noun or subject and a verb.
We are adding to this by writing paragraphs. Our focus is writing a great Topic Sentence or an Introductory Sentence.
Grade 4
We have finished compound sentences. We should be able to write a complete compound sentence on our own. A compound sentence is two complete sentences joined with a conjunction (and, yet, but, nor, or, for, so). If I take out the conjunction both sentences should be complete simple sentences.
We are just starting to focus on Topic Sentencs for building our paragraphs.
